A tweet on Twitter went viral for pointing out the pay gap between Gal Gadot’s ‘Wonder Woman’ and Henry Cavill’s ‘Man of Steel’. The tweet informed that Gadot got paid $300,000 as compared to $14 million for Henry Cavill’s ‘Man Of Steel’. Lauren Duca, a columnist at Teen Vogue tweeted this, which was then retweeted more than 14,500 times, however, the tweet isn’t true. Vanity Fair and Vox cleared out the misleading stat which went viral on the social media when it was posted.
The fact that gender pay gap exists in Hollywood, but the figures here were not from an established source. The details of Cavill’s $14 million are not verified, whereas Gadot’s $300,000 is just the base salary for each movie that she has acted in the DC Universe.
We are also ignoring the fact that Gadot is also going to make more moolah as she would be in talks with DC for the sequels. Since ‘Wonder Woman’ is still raking in lots of money, Gadot has a fair advantage for negotiating a bigger pay deal for herself.
